Hi all,
I thought I would post some more concept art here on the forum for those that are interested in seeing additional art to the final pages.
Here is a concept painting of a character who will appear in the second chapter.
This is a concept painting of the next environment I plan to build which will feature in the story very soon.
I hope you enjoy these little extras as I will be posting more soon and will incorporate a gallery into a future update to the main website.

Nice work man. Looking forward to see it in 3D.
On another note, did you get my last few e-mails? I'm just wondering if they got through to you at all.
Keep up the good work.

Hey thanks, me too.
Yes I got your emails thanks, just been busy, sorry.

I am very impressed by your work, Gio.
Maby you like to upload some of your work to the comic community I programmed together with other artists
www.toonsup.com
Its completely free, just driven by artists and very active. Although its quite new on the web, it has already a fine selection of international comic artists.
I bet you would find a lot of new fans there :-)
Greetings,
Martin Sander (www.toonsup.com/made)
Really nice work. Just read your comic.
But I'm seriously disappointed by the feeling that this site was built purely for profit. I mean the first chapter is out and you've got T-Shirts and 'Want more free content?' slapped at the end. Really good work and all mate, but I'm really disappointed that your trying to sell it so hard. It should be a joy and hobby for you, not a commercial business.
Anyway, I did enjoy reading the comic so far. It is setup really well, but I won't be coming back if I keep getting all these hints that your asking for money. *shrugs*
Made: Hi, thank you, happy you like it. I'll check out your site.
Cheers
Scott: Although I'm glad you liked the comic, I have to say that your other comments are completely unjustified.
The comic is free. The 'Want more Free content' at the end means more FREE content when it is made. At no point on the website do I ask for your money. All you have to do is give your email address so I can send you an emailed newsletter when there is more FREE content on the site, since I am working hard in my spare time (to the point of near bancruptcy on more than one occasion for the LOVE of my ART) it takes me a while to build all the characters and render all the shots, research and write the story, and maintain the website with no money from anyone but my own, and I have spent a few years in preparation so it is by no means something that just went up yesterday and then I tacked on some products.
As for T-shirts etc, people have been emailing me wanting T-shirts and Prints and asking for Tutorials so I am putting the shop up to meet the demand. I can't just give away free products as well, I can't afford to.
Since I have been working on this in my spare time for a number of years and hosting the site purchasing £1000's of software and paying for shows to promote it with my own time and money (I'm not a rich man by any means by the way) I think that even if I did charge for some content it would not be something to be criticised.
Please read things more carefully before you decide to complain about something that isn't there.
I apologize however if my hard work and free art is not good enough for some people.
By the way did I mention it is FREE.
Cheers

Hey
Just came by to check for updates on your blog and saw there were a few new comments.
I think you addressed Scott's comment quite well yourself, but I have to say it is disappointing to see that kind of skepticism directed towards a FREE product.
I know from personal experience how much work goes into creating something like this and I think you've done an outstanding job thus far. OUTSTANDING. I really can't stress this enough.
People who haven't created something like this themselves might not be able to fathom just how much time and effort (not to mention money) goes into it, but it's been made available here for everyone to enjoy free of charge so the least we can do is show some appreciation.
I find Scott's comment quite frankly disrespectful and I know it's demotivating as an artist to receive that kind of feedback when the odds are already stacked mile-high against you.
I don't have a lot of money myself, but if I can support a great initiative like The Talos Project by buying a few tees, I will. I love to see creative people who are so passionate about their stories that they are willing to do what it takes to get them out to an audience. It's inspiring to say the least and I hope Giorgos can find it within himself to push through with this project. He's a one-man army putting big-budget comics and graphic novels to shame. I have nothing but respect.
Sarco: Hi, thank you very much for your compliments and support. I obviously pay attention to everything people say whether good or bad, justified or otherwise but learn to take the hits when the crits come and try to improve from them if the comments are justified and ignore them when they come from people who are a little slow to grasp the obvious or just have a chip on their shoulder about something (or perhaps are secretly competitors trying to spoil what other people are doing as it puts there own to shame).
It is a hard slog to keep a project of this size going with your own funding and time, particularly so during a global recession so comments that it should not be a business and be a delight to work on and then give away forever are somewhat naive to the fact that I need to eat, and my pc needs electricity, and the last time I checked, I wasn't living in a Utopia where all these things were free. If they were I would have finished talos a long time ago and stopped doing commercial work for clients and spend all my time making art and music that I wanted to make and just upload it to my site for free just for the pleasure of people hopefully liking it.
Plus of course, so far Talos is actually FREE anyway.
However at some point Talos has to become a finished product for sale, that way it can pay for itself and if the first book sells well (still hoping for November launch) then maybe it will help to pay for the time off to make the next one. The more I make from the first book, the more time I can spend on the next one and the sooner it can be released and so on. I just want to make enough to make the next book and continue the project as there are not enough free evenings and sundays to work to finish a project like this. I need more free time to do it justice. I'm hoping my contracts from now until Novemeber will work out so I will have enough time to get it done for November launch (the story is set at the end of November although a different year, so that's why it sounds like a good time to aim for). There will perhaps be one more web update around August hopfully followed by a site update and fingers crossed a finished first chapter (or Vol 1) book out for the end of November.
Anyway, that's enough from me for now...back to work.
Cheers

Hey Gio
Any progress on Talos? Been a while...
Hi,
Sorry to all for delays but its hard getting this stuff done in my spare time as I have so little of it.
Been really busy on various other projects plus I need to build several new characters and environments in order to move on to the next batch of pages so I need to get them looking right before I push forward. Just wrapping up a new character head but the next one is an important character...
Hey, Gio!
Just read through the comic. Fantastic stuff! Beautifully rendered...you can tell that a great deal of work went into it.
I noticed neither the site nor blog have been updated in awhile. I know you've got a massive plate full of things to do...just curious, I guess...any guesses as to when we'll see the story advance?
No pressure...something this good is worth waiting for!
Joe
Thanks Joe, appreciate the compliments and support. I'm still pretty busy but I'm just finishing off a new character at the moment so plan to get a smallish update soon amd some updats to the site.
A bigger update will follow once I build another important character and new environment.
I'm now putting some time into Talos again so hope to get something up soon.
Cheers

Good to hear Gio. We're still lurking here :)
Looking forward to some updates!
I really like your comic. I'm currently trying to create a realistic 3d web comic myself to jump start a live action web series after building a big enough fan base.
You do realize with sites like kickstarter.com that you can get the money to fund this project further right?
I'd love to see your story continue, I think it's great.
Hi,
Thanks for checking the site out. Do you have a site up for yours yet? would like to check it out.
I have had inquires from a few directors wanting to pitch for full funding to make a tv series and movie but I still have work to do on it and it takes a great deal of time to get this stuff done and even longer before I'm ever satisfied with it enough to post.
I have another joint project that we are going to post on kickstarter so actually perhaps it's not a bad idea just to get things moving in the shortterm...
Regards
Gio
